So you know how I was whining about how Neil Young didn’t include “Cinnamon Girl” on the Fillmore East disc of the Archives? Well, in the back of my mind, I gave Neil the benefit of the doubt, assuming that a quality recording of that song maybe didn’t exist. Or maybe Danny Whitten dropped his guitar in the middle, or something. But no. I was just clicking around on Wolfgang’s Vault when I came across this: Neil Young & Crazy Horse Live Concert at Fillmore East (New York, NY) Mar 6, 1970.

It might have been better if Danny Whitten DID drop his guitar in the middle of it. Thanks for your great breakdown of the Archives. I’m in the situation that I have all the released stuff and tons of the not released stuff (I’m pretty proud of my perosnal vinyl to digital rip of Time Fades Away) so I’ll wait until I do have a blu-ray and the extra money to blow on something like that. I am glad Neil has gotten of the dime and started the Archives. I am really interested in the next set. And I can’t be the only one interested in all the tunes that never got released under the Geffen era.

I started listening to what is concidered “classic rock” at about the age of 14. Some songs I liked then I hate now and vice versa. But one thing has remained constant–I always hated “Cinammon Girl” to this day.
This is such a “GREAT” song.
I use to play this song with bands back in the early 70’s and still play it abit today. I wish I wrote it. But I’ve always wondered was Cinnamon Girl recorded 8-Track or 16-Track at Wally Heider Recording back in January 1969? Anyone Know?
