People Really Like That Goofy English Lady

Susan BoyleSheesh, American’s gone gaga over Susan Boyle. She’s breaking all kinds of sales records. With 701,000 copies, she had the best sales week for any album this year. It’s the best sales week since AC/DC‘s Black Ice moved 784,000 in 2008. Since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991, it’s the second biggest week for a debut album (Snoop‘s 1993 debut Doggystyle sold 803,000 in its first week).

She has a nice big voice, and I guess it’s a pretty good story, but wow. Who are the people who are buying this? You people freak me out. Here’s the rest of the Billboard 200’s top ten:

  1. Hey Susan Boyle! Even though we spell the last name differently I think we might be kin. Would you be interested in giving a live performance at Tex and Edna’s Organ Emporium?
