Sales: Country rules

BillboardBillboard points out that for the third week in a row, a country artist has topped the Billboard 200 chart, which tracks current album releases. Last week it was George Strait at number one, and the week before it was Sugarland. Bigger news is that for two weeks in a row now, the top album has actually sold more than Michael Jackson‘s Number Ones, which still moved 68,000 (down 15%).

1. Reba McEntire – “Keep On Loving You” – 96,000 (debut)

2. George Strait – “Twang” – 61,000 (down 61%)

3. Third Eye Blind – “Ursa Major” – 49,000 – (debut)

4. Kings of Leon – “Only By the Night” – 45,000 (up 8%)

5. Black Eyed Peas – “The E.N.D.” – 41,000 (down 10%)

6. Neil Diamond – “Hot August Night/NYC” – 39,000 (down 32%)

7. “Hannah Montana: The Movie” – 38,000 (up 41%)

8. Taylor Swift – “Fearless” – 34,000 (down 8%)

9. Daughtry – “Leave This Town” – 33,000 (down 12%)

10. “Now 31” – 33,000 (down 14%)
