The feedback starts and the singer yells
“I’d rather die than give you control”
But he’s already sold the whole damn thing for a big loan
Two years later, of course, Smith himself signed a contract with DreamWorks Records, but hey, when you’re young and snotty, it’s easy to be righteous. What a great find! Thanks, Mary Lou.

This makes my stomach turn. I might possibly be the only person on the planet who thinks of Elliott Smith and Nine Inch Nails as my two favorite bands of all time in the universe. Well maybe the beatles too so this really upsets me that Elliott Smith thinks Trent Reznor’s a sell out.

Don’t worry Mike. I read one of Mary Lou Lord’s comments when these videos first went up and she said that Elliott Smith used to play this one a lot and then it disappeared. He probably got over the sentiment, or felt like a hypocrite. And you’re not alone! Some guy over on youtube thinks the same… unless that’s you.
