The most compelling bit of info from Billboard’s album sales article this week: “Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending April 11) totaled 5.27 million units, down 23% compared to the sum last week (6.84 million) and down 33% compared to the comparable sales week of 2009 (7.83 million).” That’s the lowest I remember seeing it. I wonder low low it’ll go…
1. Justin Bieber – “My World 2.0” – 102,000 (down 65%)
2. Usher – “Raymond v Raymond” – 92,000 (down 72%)
3. Slash – “Slash” – 60,000 (debut)
4. Lady Antebellum – “Need You Now” – 57,000 (down 34%)
5. “Now 33” – with 53,000 (down 57%)
6. Monica – “Still Standing” – 38,000 (down 53%)

Gee I don’t get it – just look at all of those quality musicians there in the top ten – sheesh.
Seriously, no wonder the record industry is suffering. Everything that’s “popular” these days is garbage. Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and maybe Jonsi are the only real, listenable artists up there!
