Hanson vs. The Blues Brothers

Video: Hanson – “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’”

Okay, we’re a few months late to the party, but this video is great. The song is pretty good, too. Taylor Hanson does his best Ray Charles impression as the boys pay homage to the Blues Brothers with the first single from their new album, Shout It Out, out now on the band’s own 3CG Records. The attention to detail is remarkable, and they even recruited Weird Al to shake a tambourine just like “Magic Tone” Murph! It’s obvious these guys really love the movie.

I think what’s interesting is these kids could easily be smoking heroin behind a dumpster with Leif Garrett. Instead they are still putting out music (and hell, i’ll say it…its decent, fun pop music). This video is awesome and I gotta say the kids are alright…

    Agreed, Tim.

Hey, anybody know if Weird Al directed the video?

Nope, it was directed by friend of Hanson, Todd Edwards. Shot over two says in Tulsa, choreographed by Heather Hall.

Regarding Yankovic, Taylor Hanson told MTV: “We’ve known him since ’98 and, small world, but he shot [the 1989 film] ‘UHF’ in Tulsa. Plus he’s sort of the king of re-creating these pop-culture moments, so having him in it was almost like a blessing. He was a consummate professional. He learned all the dance moves, got the wardrobe just right. He was great.”
