I remember thinking the first time I saw Lady GaGa “I liked her better when she was Madonna.” I was making a lame joke. I never really saw the extent to which L GG has lifted from Madonna. Cool video.

A lot of the music video imagery Gaga is using has been and is being used in a lot of other pop videos. How much of it is a rip off or homage is anybody’s guess.

If you ask me she’s taken an awful lot from Peaches. More so her persona and some of her onstage costuming and antics. If anything, it’s a damn dirty shame that more critics and reviewers don’t know enough about musicians like Peaches to write an informed review of Gaga.

It would be like writing about Katy Perry’s “I kissed a girl” without noting that Jill Sobule released a song with the same title and similar lyrical content, which was produced by the same person who produced Perry’s song 14 years later.

Scotty, I agree on the Peaches thing, but also feel that Peaches took some of Madonna’s sexual audacity and turned it up to 11. Fruit from the same tree.
