Superchunk – In Beween Days

Video: Superchunk – “In Beween Days”

This is just as good as you’d imagine it would be. Everybody loves Superchunk; everybody loves this song; the whole is just as good as the sum of its parts. So glad this band is back together and doing new stuff.

That AV Club Undercover series is pretty cool. Clem Snide‘s Eef Barzelay covered Journey‘s “Faithfully” and it’s really touching.

  1. Great stuff. “Maybe Steve Perry can love more deeply than I can.” Nice. That was my favorite one so far. I don’t know about you, though, but I’ve got a hankering for a Bud now. It’s America’s Great Lager, after all!

  2. What fun, there are a bunch of good covers here. As for Bud, I always mute during ads and do something else…I mean, except when I click through on Glono, obviously.

  3. A band I’ve never heard of, Wye Oak, does a killer version of “Strangers” by the Kinks. Also interesting to note is that one of the songs left to cover is a Superchunk song. It being the AV Club, I wonder if Superchunk could have actually covered Superchunk? That’d be a lot of pressure though because if you messed that up you’d feel real dern stupid.

  4. the cure cover by superchunk was great, but now i would really like to see clem snide cover an entire journey album.

  5. Franky: I saw Wye Oak perform that song as a duet with the guy from Shearwater and it was awesome. They were great live, and that highlight prompted me to buy their last cd at the merch table, which I haven’t listened to since. It was nowhere near as good as what I saw on stage.

  6. I’m going through the rest of the covers, and I see nobody has done “I Will Dare” yet. I wonder why. Is it hard to play or something? It’s a great song.

  7. It’s not hard; being on the road is a lot of fun…

Take that Bon Jovi and your melodramatic “Wanted Dead or Alive” video!

  8. …or bob segar with “turn the page”. i have a friend that’s been in several bands that physically gets upset ever time her hears that song. “fuck’m if he doesn’t want to be a in rock band playing all across the country! he should fucking hang it up.” exactly!
