Re: Cover songs better than the original

The Replacements - Black Diamond Agreed! And I still quite love Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah." With absolutely no irony, however, I think Mike Patton's cover (live only?) of Herb Alpert's "This Guy's in Love with You" is splendid. Oh, and The Tourists' version of "I Only Want...

Picked up Wilco's Sky Blue Sky and (the album) at their recent show in Toronto. They're sounding more like late-era Beatles more and more. Love it!

Re: Make a home-town video for Wilco

Well, apparently no one created a video for Toronto because I didn't any footage. Great show, though!

Re: Lollapaloser?

Is it Black Dub or Daniel Lanois? If it's just Lanois solo, I am jealous and I hate you and you should definitely try everything necessary to stay awake because it will be amazing. If it's Black Dub- eh, not so much. Black Dub. I did see Lanois do a solo bit at Nuit Blanche late last October: atmos...

Re: New Wilco song

I'm not crazy about the fuzzy bass, but I do like where they're going. I'll give this a few more listens; it may yet grow on me. Makes me curious about the album. Hopefully the fuzzy bass is a phase...an a short one at that.

Re: Lollapaloser?

Re: Lollapaloser?

I think the answer is a mash up of the good stuff, and leave the irony to rust in the rain. The are some decent acts at Lolla and handful at Pitchfork, but the rest is dross. .

Same here. I go with friends' recommendations as usual, but as for news, I occasionally look at Exclaim. One of my former authors is an editor there, too. I also listen to
BBC 6.
