They trashed the gym? That's nuts! Our Lady Peace is Canadian. What were they thinking? And that Mark McGrath - "Rock n Roll Jeapardy" isn't going to invite him back if he keeps inciting behavior like that.

Shut your trap about those Hall & Oates comments, or I'll sick Macaulay on your ass. But seriously, Sugar Ray isn't necessarily a bad band. With the aid of very expensive production and studio trickery, they have produced reams of completely reliable, smart-alecky pap that is pleasant to listen to w...

I give Sugar Ray props for at least knowing their own limitations, and fully admitting that they're a flash in the pan built only for fleeting pop stardom, nothing more, nothing less. I thought "14:59" was one of the best names for a follow-up album ever.

No one said you were dreaming. In fact, I'm pretty sure I said that I wouldn't be surprised if you were right. You are, and I'm not. Surpised, that is. "Young Man's Mind" is tailor-made for a beer ad. Shit, the chorus is "In a young man's mind it's a simple world/a little bit is music and the rest i...

This is the controversey I was talking about in my Datsuns article. Here's Wayne Kramer's take on it:

I think he makes a few good points. But it's still a weird, brown acid freakout to see Justin Timberlake wearing an MC5 shirt.

Sammy James Jr totally, totally looks like Derek Zoolander. As far as I know the Mooney isn't in a Coors Light ad, but I guess I wouldn't really be surprised if they were. Klein and I were at Best Buy last Saturday, and they're selling the Columbia re-issue of "Electric Sweat" for $14.99. It feature...

The popular acceptance of Sean Paul outside of his American foothold in NYC is very good for the dancehall genre. Too often true dancehall chatters need to pimp themselves out to pop acts to even catch a glimpse of US stardom (see Bounty Killer's appearance in No Doubt's "Hey Baby", or Super Cat's c...

GE Smith's "guitar face" does brighten my day a Comedy Central rerun of SNL flashes by during a channel search. It would be awesome if Cat Power's tour was just her and GE, who'd stand at a 45-degree angle behind and to the left of Chan Marshall. He'd make his face and strum that yellow Telecaster, ...

The continued coverage of Cat Power both at GloNo and elsewhere - and the prominent mention of her infamous live performance idiosyncracies - has made me anticipate her Detroit appearance this Tuesday even more. There's a huge disparity between the promotional push for "You Are Free" and Marshall's ...
