Hall & Oates = Not everyone likes them. ahem.

10cc = THANK YOU! I had a fight (yes, an acutal fight) with my ex who tried to convince me otherwise. I should have taken the hint.

On an non-musical note, Aerosmith are at the Saddledome watching the Flames v Lightning (2-0 for Calgary!) The band will be performing the national anthem tomorrow. I think that's kind of cool.

Creepy = great pick!

"Indiscipline" by King Crimson. It's a spoken-word piece surrounded by thumping Stick and percussion, alternating with some of the most ferocious metal you'll ever hear. At the climax of the spoken word section, you hear the singer say "The more I look at it, the more I like it. I DO think it's good. In fact, no matter how closely I study it, no matter how I take it apart, no matter how I break it down, it remains consistent...."

then the pause. it really DOES build up in intensity.

"I wish you were here to see it!"

Speaking of B-52's songs with dramatic pauses, don't forget "Strobe Light."

I completely forgot about that King Crimson song.... And I do think it's good! Ummm, the song is good, not forgetting it.
That would be the opposite of good..... or to put it plainly, bad.

songs w/ pauses

There's the pause with alarm clock ringing in "Bright Future in Sales" on the latest Fountains of Wayne album. It's the cut just before you-know-who's mom.

Nice one! "I would play games with it, like not looking at it for a whole day and then looking at it, to see if I still liked it [pause][pause] I DID!"

Another one:

"Looking through a glass onion [pause] [Ringo] I told you about the fool on the hill..."
