Nice find, Lep. That link led me to the compiler's blog, which led me to Volume 14, too:Lep wrote:Lux and Ivy's faves

Teenage Fanclub's latest, Shadows, the first single "Baby Lee" of which I heard on GloNo. Happy jangly pop that made me pull out their other CDs. Very nice.
Before that was the Pirate Radio s/t, which is awesome.
Generally all pop all the time, except for the odd Godspeed jag when I'm reading at night.

Excellent stuff, and it seems like everyone I share that with likes it. Did you get Four Thieves Gone?Greenwood The Sock Monkey wrote:A little late to the party, but I have been playing the hell out of The Avett Bros I and Love and You for a couple of months now. Campfires, Saturday nights, Sunday mornings, drives to work, you name it.
Have you Avett Bros fans heard the band Dawes? I just listened once through but it's pretty good and up the same alley. Here's the best song:
MP3: Dawes - "When My Time Comes" from North Hills
Jolie described that song as "alt-country meets VU" which I can totally hear, but the rest of the album is def more alt-country than VU.

Didn't know anything about them until I saw something about them in Q magazine then saw the Austin City Limits gig on tv. I'm hoping to work my way back through their catalogue and will check out Four Thieves Gone next. Will also check out Jake's recommendation on Dawes - thanks!jonas wrote:Excellent stuff, and it seems like everyone I share that with likes it. Did you get Four Thieves Gone?
