According to AP, Solomon Burke died of natural causes.
He was 70.

I guess this is just preparing me for Percy Sledge, who's getting on in the years.

There were a certain group of R&B singers who just really grabbed me. Otis, obviously. Percy Sledge, James Carr. And Solomon Burke. What a fucking bummer.

Raising my glass to a man with a great voice. Read a recent interview with him in Mojo... seems like he had a heart to match the voice.

Damn, all the great soul singers are passing on. And Solomon was either the subject of or was a teller of great stories about the early days of soul. God Bless Mr. Burke; thanks for all the great music.
