Blitzen Trapper & Dawes Co-Headlining North American Tour

Post by Jake »

ATO Records is excited to announce that Dawes has confirmed a fall tour, which they will be co-headlining with Blitzen Trapper. The 29-date tour kicks off on October 7th in Petaluma, CA, and will hit major cities across the US and Canada. This tour follows the June release of their critically acclaimed sophomore album, Nothing Is Wrong. Rolling Stone raves that the members of Dawes are "the most promising purveyors of new-school country folk...so authentically vintage." The full list of tour dates is below.

Since the release of their debut album, 'North Hills' (which featured the breakout anthem, "When My Time Comes"), an extraordinary record that was released quietly and soon became regarded among critics and fans across the country as a classic and must-own favorite, Dawes has toured non-stop and earned a reputation for their road warrior work ethic along with their passionate and epic live performances.

So much so in fact, that Dawes was recently hand-picked by legends Robbie Robertson (The Band) and Jackson Browne to serve the backing band for their respective projects; performing with Robertson on some special TV performances (Late Night with David Letterman, The View, and The Jools Holland Show) and with Browne on a recent European tour.

According to Robertson: "They're really good and they're a band - it's different than just getting a bunch of individual musicians and trying to make them click and blend. They're all at the top of their game...they know what works. I appreciate a young band with a broad horizon. Dawes is that in spaces."

Browne states: "Dawes are an incredible young band. Their singer, Taylor Goldsmith, is a brilliant songwriter with very hip lyrics. He and his brother Griffin have one of those great familial harmony blends. You can't mention a record that these guys haven't listened to."

Prior to the Fall tour, Dawes will head out on a month-long sold-out tour with GRAMMY Award winning, Alison Krauss and Union Station.

The response to Nothing Is Wrong has been excellent. Paste Magazine declared, "they stand on the cusp of becoming a force to be reckoned with for years to come," while American Songwriter admired how "Dawes' second album succeeds on its own terms...capturing the quartet's vibrant musical rapport and chops." "In two short years," noted Relix, "Dawes has emerged as one of the finest bands in the burgeoning neo-folk scene." The Philadelphia Inquirer called the album "wise and touching...a bittersweet treat," while the Chicago Sun-Times was taken by its "finely crafted modern country-rock."

Dawes and Blitzen Trapper will release a free six-song EP available for download and blog posting (visit www.dawestheband.com for embeddable widget). The EP consists of three Dawes songs and three Blitzen Trapper songs.

Each band will launch a joint pre-sale on Friday, August 5th at 10 AM EST prior to the public on-sale on Friday, August 12th (check local outlets for respective times).

By purchasing tickets directly from either band's website, fans will be allowed to:
