david cross vs. pitchfork

Postby grounded5am » Tue May 17, 2005 11:55 am

david cross was asked by pitchfork to contribute his top ten list. so he came up with his top ten fictional albums to listen to while reading overwrought pitchfork reviews.

Oh, you need to link to that Grounded. Hilarity can only ensue. Did P-fork post that shit? I'm off to check.

Edit: Here's the link;

That's funny. They're good sports for running it. I guess he's not really pointing out anything everybody doesn't already know though.

Ahh...I've been ignoring Pitchfork for awhile now, but David Cross has rekindled the hate. I remember why I stopped paying attention to PF:

The virulent and hermetically sealed pinings of the world's only triple gold selling Native American artist living in an iron lung. It's as if newly dead, and thus still pure angels, reached down into The Virgin Mothers throat and gently lifted out the sweetest and most plaintive sounds man will ever hope to hear in this life. RATING: 7.17

Whoops - that's Cross's parody of a PF review. But is there any difference? The correct answer is 'no'.

Yeah, I think Cross and PF are a winning combo. I think he's a pretty funny motherfucker. I have both of his CDs. His reviews really sounded similar to PF ones too, so it was even more hilarious.

I nearly died listening to the redneck fight bit driving back home one day, I was laughing so hard and it was raining...damn!

I'm not sure why, but I think this is my favorite line:

'ButterFat 100 return to their psychobilly/emo core roots. Let its volcanic rapture overwhelm you like a 19th century hand-woven blanket made of human hair might have done back in the days when they enjoyed such things. RATING: 5.5'
