The Raconteurs Liverpool gig review

Postby Batchy » Tue Mar 21, 2006 9:55 am

Must admit curiosity is very much aroused about The Raconteurs although i have yet to hear any of their tunes. I like Benson (particularly nice guy, met him before an intimate gig upstairs in a pub in Dublin and he put me on the guestlist for his gig the next night supporting Mercury Rev even though i didn't ask and just shared a smoke and a chat with the dude) and i am a White Stripes fan especially after seeing them play a kick-arse show in Keyspan Park, Coney Island while on my holidays.

Also like The Greenhornes (these guys must be great live?) so

1 Benson + 1 White Stripe + 2 Greenhornes = ?

Anyone heard any of their stuff? Are they greater than the sum of their parts or even just the sum of their parts?

You can stream two songs and watch a video on their website:

I like both songs, especially "Steady As She Goes." It'll be interesting to see how they do, commerically.

I'd buy the record just for those two songs.
