What’s with Black Lipstick getting shout-outs everywhere all of the sudden? I saw them two years at the Beat Kitchen, and they were great, but hadn’t heard anything since.
Well, they’ve got a new album coming out, and this mp3 was just added to Insound’s mp3s, which was the first I’d heard of them. I like the mp3 so I posted it. A lot of people talking about them? I really like this song. Velvetsy goodness.
Yeah, I first heard of them at that show (opening for Silkworm) and they were really, really great. Last year, I was all signed up to cover their next trip to Chicago, but they cancelled their tour at the last second. I feared a breakup or something. So, I was pleasantly surprised to see GLOno and a few other well-known indie blogs link to the new MP3s. There was even a pfork review, if I’m not mistaken.
