Beastie Boys Check Your Head Remastered

What'cha Want?Have you finished drooling over your newly remastered 20th Anniversary edition of Paul’s Boutique? Well, wipe your chin because now the Beastie Boys are doing the same thing with Check Your Head. And more! This time, they’re adding “16 bonus cuts, rarities and assorted nonsense.” And as with Paul’s, you’ll be able to get it in a variety of formats, including 4 LP vinyl.

Bonus tracks: Dub the Mic – Instrumental; Pass the Mic Pt. 2; Drunken Praying Mantis Style; Netty’s Girl; The Skills to Pay the Bills (Original); So What’cha Want (Soul Assassins remix); So What’cha Want (Butt Naked version); Groove Holmes (Live vs. the Biz); So What’cha Want (All the Way Live Freestyle); Stand Together (Live at French’s Tavern); Finger Lickin’ Good (Government Cheese); Gratitude (Live at Budokan 9/16/92); Honky Rink; Jimmy James (Original Original version); Boomin’ Granny; Drinkin’ Wine.

This album, more than any other that I can think of right now, defines my college experience. And for a moment I knew what it was all about… Namaste.

  1. The remaster of Paul’s was so good. But I still wonder how it is that record companies continue to expect us to re-buy music we already own.

  2. So, I got this yesterday. Here’s my warning: buy it for the bonus tracks if you need them. The “remastering” is barely, if at all, noticeable. The Paul’s Boutique remaster was a clearly superior mix. THIS one is nearly indistinguishable from my original CD rip.

The bonus tracks are sweet but, truth be told, I had most of them already, spread around on CD singles and rare track compilations. If you’re an old-timer fan like me there’s not much new stuff here.
