Hopewell – Stranger

Lest you think only 3 minute garage rock and House music comes out of Detroit*, may we introduce you to Hopewell. Owing more to the 90s shoegazer school of space rock than that of the 70s androgynous variety, Hopewell swirls and distorts the music like so much paint. Somewhere Kevin Shields is smiling.

MP3: Hopewell – “Stranger” from the band’s new album Good Good Desperation, out now on Tee Pee Records.

*CORRECTION: This band is not from Detroit, but from New York…like every other band these days. That completely kills the lede to this blurb too.

  1. Hopewell actually opened up for MBV here in Chicago, IIRC. They put on a good show. If not Chicago, they definitely opened up different MBV shows.
