Remastered Beatles on Vinyl Coming Soon?

The Beatles In Mono

According to the blog, my vinyl review, vinyl lovers will have reason to celebrate later this year:

November 14, 2009 has been mentioned by an industry insider as the tentative release date for the remastered Beatles vinyl. The same insider also said that the releases would come out on Capitol Records and named R.T.I. as the pressing plant slated for the job. The suggested retail price will reportedly be approximately $25.00, and given that price, one can also easily speculate that the vinyl will be 180 grams.

There are some questions regarding whether the vinyl will be sourced directly from the analog tapes (unlikely) or from high resolution 24/192 digital masters sourced from the original analog tapes (more likely) or just from the digital masters used for the new CDs (that’s what EMI has been doing since 1987).

So which Beatles albums would you prefer to have on brand new, remastered vinyl?

In other news, the box sets are now available for pre-order in the UK (stereo, mono) and in Canada (stereo, mono), but not in the US yet. The individual discs are there though.

  1. Oh man, what would I get first? I have pristine original pressing of the White Album and an OK version of Abbey Road. All of my early records, while original pressings, are a bit rough with scratches.

    Need to budget appropriately…

  2. I AM NOT REALLY TOO SURE. I MEAN,I PROBABLY WOULD CERTAINLY NOT BUY THE CD REMASTERS, LET ALONE ANY CD’S TO BEGIN WITH, AND IF THE MASTERING JOB PERHAPS,IS NO BETTER THAN THE 1987 JOB FOR THE VINYL,THEN I WOULD PROBABLY FEEL CHEATED,AND WOULD WANT THE ORIGINAL 60’S BRITISH PRESSINGS, AS OPPOSED TO THE REISSUES OF ANY SORT. THANKS, BUT NO THANKS.
