Vincent Chase has a band

The Honey Brothers

MP3: The Honey Brothers – “Demonstration”

I read an interview with Adrian Grenier and Andrew Vladeck from the Honey Brothers in this morning’s Red Eye, and despite the fact that their drummer is an actor, I decided to check out their new EP, Demonstration (streaming this week on Spinner). They call themselves a “ukulele band” and Vladeck plays banjo, but it doesn’t sound like you’d expect. It sounds like run-of-the-mill indie rock. “Moonlight” sounds like the Talking Heads. “Perfect Parent” features some vocals by Grenier, and his voice may not be as compelling as his eyes…but what is?

One more thing: their ukelele player’s name is Ari Gold, no shit. Lloyd!

  1. “…and despite the fact that their drummer is an actor, I decided to check out their new EP”. Lines like these, Jake Brown, are why the ladies love you, and the dudes want to be you.

  2. i guess this is how little television pop culture effects me. i had to google to see who the hell vincent chase is. yeah, yeah… i heard entourage is a great show. just never got around to it.

this is the second “ukulele” act i read about this week… the other is dent may & his magnificent ukulele, which is actually pretty good and i’d actually recommend it.
