Sales: Another Terrible Week for Top Albums

Bill boredWhen an AC/DC compilation is the most exciting thing in the list of the top ten best selling albums last week, you know there’s trouble. Billboard 200:

1. B.o.B – “The Adventures of Bobby Ray” – 84,000 (debut)

2. Lady Antebellum – “Need You Now” – 76,000 (down 8%)

3. Bullet for My Valentine – “Fever” – 71,000 (debut)

4. Justin Bieber – “My World 2.0” – 69,000 (down 14%)

5. AC/DC – “Iron Man 2” – 52,000 (down 32%)

6. Usher – “Raymond v Raymond” – 48,000 (down 8%)

7. Melissa Etheridge – “Fearless Love” – 46,000 (debut)

8. Miranda Cosgrove – “Sparks Fly” – 36,000 (debut)

9. “Now 33” – 30,000 (down 17%)

10. “Glee: Power of Madonna” – 29,000 (down 70%)

12. Hole – “Nobody’s Daughter” – 22,000 (debut)

Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending May 2) totaled 5.46 million units, down 1% compared to the sum last week (5.54 million) and down 11% compared to the comparable sales week of 2009 (6.17 million).

  1. But this week’s releases are awesome. Hold Steady record. New Pornographers record. New Flaming Lips record (sort of). Some cool stuff coming out in the next 1-2 weeks too. April is usually a bit of a dead zone for releases, but things are looking up before summer tour season.

    Is there anything “new” on the Iron Man comp, like the Who Made Who record, or is it 100% recycled?
