Sales: MGMT Moves 66,000

MGMT - CongratulationsDid you know that MGMT‘s Oracular Spectacular has sold 606,000 to date and continues to sell “at least 2,000 copies per week”? Me neither. I wonder how this new album will end up doing. It start out strong (relatively): MGMT’s Top Debut on Billboard 200:

1. Justin Bieber – “My World 2.0” – 92,000 (down 10%)

2. MGMT – “Congratulations” – 66,000 (debut)

3. Lady Antebellum – “Need You Now” – 65,000 (up 15%)

4. Usher – “Raymond v Raymond” – 64,000 (down 31%)

5. Coheed and Cambria – “Year of the Black Rainbow” – 51,000 (debut)

6. “Now 33” compilation – 45,000 (down 15%)

7. Lady Gaga – “The Fame” – 32,000 (down 3%)

8. Ke$ha – “Animal” – 31,000 (up 39%)

9. Monica – “Still Standing” – 30,000 (down 21%)

And now for the big number: “Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending April 18) totaled 5.46 million units, up 3% compared to the sum last week (5.27 million) and down 14% compared to the comparable sales week of 2009 (6.36 million).”
