Elvis Is Everywhere (Even Ancient Rome)

Elvis needs boats, Elvis needs boats...Irrefutable new evidence proves that Elvis Presley has been the King for a lot longer than conventionally believed. Are you Roman tonight? Statue of ‘Elvis’ chiselled 1800 years before his birth goes under the hammer:

With his dashing chiselled features, swept back hair and perky bouffant the resemblance is unmistakable.

But incredibly this carving of Elvis Presley was created around 1800 years before the King of Rock and Roll first warbled his first note.

The amazing likeness has come to light as part of a sale of ancient antiques by the auction house Bonhams. […]

The ‘Elvis’ sculpture is 2nd Century AD and is estimated to make £25,000 to £30,000.

This should come as no surprise to true Elvis fans who know that he was actually born long before the heyday of the Roman Empire.

I was born about ten thousand years ago

Ain’t nothing in this world that I don’t know

I saw old pharaoh’s daughter bring Moses from the water

I’ll lick the guy that says it isn’t so.

Velvet Underground Rarity under the Gavel

4-25-66A one-of-a-kind Velvet Underground acetate is being auctioned off on ebay. These are the legendary “lost Scepter Studios recordings” that include the original, unreleased versions of “European Son,” “Heroin,” “Venus In Furs,” and “I’m Waiting For The Man.” The other five tracks are the same takes that were released on Velvet Underground & Nico, but with different mixes.

There had been talk of Universal buying this and releasing it, but apparently that fell through… Current bid is $18,600.00 and bidding ends on December 8. If you’ve got some extra cash, buy this and upload the mp3s so we can all hear the first Velvets album as Andy Warhol originally intended it.

Last Known Photo of Lennon-McCartney SOLD

Corrected: The “last known” photograph of John Lennon and Paul McCartney together is for sale was sold in 2000. The image was taken at the recording of US singer Harry Nilsson’s album Pussy Cats in 1974, four years after the Beatles split up. John Lennon produced Pussy Cats during his “Lost Weekend” and McCartney stopped by unannounced.

Last Known Photo of Lennon-McCartney

The black and white photo was part of a collection of the late Who drummer Keith Moon’s memorabilia auctioned off in 2000.

But now there’s even more Keith Moon stuff going up for auction on November 21, 2006, through Christie’s. You can bid on some awesome flared pants, lots of gold records, a couple of diaries, and even some drums.

What Price Fame?

The pot into which Jerry shat...So now you can buy Jerry Garcia’s shitter on eBay (specifically from December 18 to 24, 2005). Oh, the humanity. In case you didn’t catch it, some guy bought a house that the man who has been, ideally, gratefully dead since 1995 lived in during the early ’90s and, evidently, gutted it. Consequently, there is the opportunity to get everything from the porcelain appliance to door pulls and other things that were within Garcia’s reach at some point in time. While the proceeds are going to a good cause, the Sophia Foundation, which helps kids from broken homes, it brings to rise the question of just how far people are sucked into the aura of stardom when it comes to musical demigods.

One could argue that if there is money to be made by selling the pot into which Jerry shat it is a far better thing than if the thing was otherwise recycled. But how far does one go into this realm?
