Project Playlist Dropped from Facebook and MySpace

Facebook has joined MySpace in dropping Project Playlist‘s widget, which lets users search for tracks and create digital mixes to share. This comes on the heels of an announcement from Project Playlist of an agreement with Sony BMG to allow the label’s artists to be featured in the program. Three other majors are suing saying that Project Playlist distributes copyrighted material and induces people to upload more material, infringing on copyright protection.

As MediaPost’s Daily Online Examiner put it, “Meanwhile, it’s unclear how anyone benefits when three of the four major labels decide to shun companies like Project Playlist that have a huge fan base and that clearly want to find a way to compensate the industry.”

‘zactly.

GLONO on Facebook

Hey everybody, we’d like to invite all Facebook users out there to join the GLONO Blog Network. Why? As with most issues concerning social networking tools, the question is really: why not? It’s fun. Get connected…or something…

There’s also a Facebook group for People who love Glorious Noise. Why not, right?

Coming soon: GLONO Second Life Headquarters. Just kidding: I don’t even know what than means. It’s hard enough managing my first life.

[Update: Those links don’t work anymore, but this one does. But seriously: fuck facebook. What seemed ten years ago like just a simple, fun way to connect with old friends has turned into a democracy-destroying, hate-amplifying, reality-obliterating black hole of evil…with cat videos and photos of your friends’ kids’ first day of school. -ed. 12/19/2018]
