i was just reading a review of the Hedwig tribute album "wig in a box" and came across this line that just kinda set wrong with me...

What remains is much more reserved, the guitar strumming clean straight eighths over non-confrontational tom work...

fucking "non-confrontational tom work"?!!!

gave me a headache...

That's pretty rank... "Clean straight eighths" is one of those condescending theory phrases made to purposely confound all non-musical readers.

Damn, you mean I can write reviews somewhere where they won't pay me, OR think I'm cool?

I'll stick with Glono.

WOW they're condescending. Sounds like they prey on young'uns who dream of big things but don't get outside much. I wonder who they get in response - any big egos to match? ("I answer to no name but KING! Worship me and my stunning knowledge of Yngwie Malmsteen!")

Yeah, I actually submitted for that a long time ago. They didn't reply at all, not even a condescending rejection letter. I'll stick to popmatters, I still don't get paid, but at least my editor's nice to me.
