Hives Article

For anyone who is interested:

According to Almqvist, it's important to stay in character at all times. "It always seems wrong not to wear our outfits when we play. That's why we wore them in the studio while we recorded 'Tyrannosaurus.' We figured it was just one more way to be very dedicated, even when no one is looking."

Now that's dedication. I wonder if they wear them to sleep at night.

I think that's pretty cool. It's always a bit disappointing when you see bands clad in rockish decadence for all appearances only to see them bespectacled, wearing their fleece and sweats in the studio. That ain't how Keith Richard(s?) did it.

But this is pretty cool:

The Hives cut the entire record in two weeks, playing each song live with as few retakes as possible. "It's just the way music should be made," says Almqvist. "If we went to L.A. to record in the biggest studio for four months, it would be admitting that our whole MO was wrong to start with—and we never admit we're wrong."

Now that's more like it - for shame, mooney suzuki!

Have you heard Walk Idiot Walk? It's pretty cool

By the way, there's been a lot of press about how they've signed to one of the big record companies. Apparently they've signed a contract that gives them the full rights to their recordings after a few years. How wierd is that?
