How YOU can help support the troops...

Postby Jake » Fri Mar 21, 2003 4:20 pm

I know this is a little off-topic for a music forum, but my friend Dano sent me this and it really brings the whole deal home in a way that I hadn't seen before...

Dano wrote:I don't usually send bulk email but I have my duties and I think this
is important.

Just wanted to let everyone know that my brother, Chief Warrant Officer
4 David Laninga, is over fighting that war over there in Iraq. He's
not just a US Army soldier, he's my brother and my best friend. Dave
is well trained and very well equipped as a Chief Warrant Officer Four,
Army AH-64D Apache Longbow pilot. He loves his wife, his dog, his
friends & family and he loves his country.

The last thing Dave asked of me before he was deployed to Kuwait was to
tell all my friends that you don't necessarily have to support the
cause but to please support your troops. These are confusing times but
our troops are our brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews, nieces, wives,
husbands and friends. They need our support.

If you would like to show your support for your troops he had a few
requests from the people back home. There is very little water so
moist towellettes are the sought after commodity. A link to some
really nice ones is <> but
I'm sure any large type will be fine. Also foot power is a pretty
coveted product.

They also have to do their wash in their helmets. The last thing they
want to do is wash their underwear in their helmets so they are burying
their underwear in the desert. What a legacy eh? Boxers, briefs,
man-thongs, whatever you you want to send them. Dave is a size 32-34.

Also, with the little amount of water, the last thing he said is needed
is hand sanitizer.

Cards, letters and words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

His address is:

CW4 David Laninga
1-227th AVN REGT
APO, AE 09302-1444

He gets his mail in about 7 days.

Please keep him in your thoughts & prayers.

I heard that they asked people not to send stuff anymore because the response was so huge, unless you are a friend or family member. Not sure if that is true, but I have already started collecting at my workplace for Dave. So let him know he will be getting some stuff from Attorneys Equity National Corporation in California. Hopefully it will still get to him ok.
