Solange - A Seat At The Table
I've listened to a couple songs off this but I don't see what's the big deal. What's so great about it? (Not trying to be dick; I'm sincerely interested in what I'm missing.)

I've not heard the album myself, but I don't find much value in the pop music of today myself. A song or two here and there, but not enough to make me buy the album. It's a little too overproduced, sterile, and a little too busy for my tastes. But I'm not one to go by though, as my tastes in music haven't strayed too far from the 120 minutes variety. There might be some new acts in there, but they're still working with the same template. It's not completely by choice though I don't think. The older I get the more I stick with the same stuff. And after my fiancee/mom passed I've gotten even more into older stuff. The last two records I listened to was Prince's deluxe box set of 1999 and Dead Man's Pop by The Replacements, which I'm currently spinning. though I will say I have been meaning to get the last Lorde record. That Green light song alone is worth the price of admission, but currently, my Amazon cart consists of, you guessed it, pretty much old stuff. Rundown:

Kitchens of Distinction - The Death of Cool vinyl and cd
Prince - Batman Soundtrack cd
Madonna - The Immaculate Collection/Like A Prayer vinyl and cd
Echo and the Bunnymen - Do it Clean: An Anthology 1979-87
Danny Elfman - Batman Original Motion Picture Score vinyl
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - She's the one vinyl and cd
Madonna - I'm breathless [Music From and Inspired By the Film Dick Tracy] vinyl

Not that I intend to buy all those at once or at all. I'm so all over the map with this depression it really sucks. Hopefully, the new meds help. Well, anyway time to end this spiel/somewhat rant.

Thanks for reading.

I'm not gonna even pretend that I've listened to all the music that I should have; I'm way behind. I *do* know that I have always been a great "cheerleader" for the bands and sounds I like the best. Here's the ones I highly recommend to you, the cultured listener who has impeccable taste:

Hushdrops -- Tomorrow
Split Single -- Fragmented World, Metal Frames
The Safes -- all of them!!
The Differents -- all of them!!
Penthouse Sweets -- all of them!!
Elvis Costello -- Wise Up Ghost
Souls Of Mischief -- There Is Only Now
The Webstirs -- Now YOu've Really Done It
Dean III & The Wagers -- Dirty Souls
The Bon Mots -- Best Revenge
Tomorrow The Moon -- Blow, Mind, Blow!!

Yeah, my listening goes down every decade, so it’s a smaller sample. Still, there’s some stuff I liked a lot.

Titus Andronicus-The Monitor
The War on Drugs-Lost in a Dream
Aphex Twin-Syro
Lucy Dacus-Historian (she was also great in concert)
Sufjan Stevens-Carrie and Lowell
Sleigh Bells-Treats
PJ Harvey-Let England Shake
Anything by LCD Soundsystem (and that may have been one of the top five concerts of my life)
Mountain Goats-Beat the Champ

I didn't realize Souls of Mischief had a new album this decade!
